Narrative

The surname Hagan/Haggan seems to be interchangeable as evidenced by the birth information of the children of John Haggan and Jane Hill. This birth information does not come from registrations but from the parish records of First Carrickfergus Presbyterian Church. The children of Hugh Hagan used the Hagan variation in later life. This can be found on the marriage certificates of both Annie and John, in the 1901 and 1911 Irish censuses and in the birth registrations of the children of Annie Hagan and John Rodgers.
